the72.co.uk/2024/05/01/gillingham-interested-in-appointing-former-player-as-new-boss/This sounds like lazy journalism and I'm not sure it fits. Apparently we didn't want to pay comp. For either Lindsay or Maher last time, Mahers would be more now as he has a longer contract. Sounds like someone's talking shitee and if we've got money to throw about I wouldn't throw it at Maher, after watching him as a player I wasn't even aware he had a brain.

Our objective is to be promoted from league two and then eventually league one. There are candidates available who are out of work who have previously achieved this. Unless they’re not interested, it would be madness to go for someone who hasn’t previously achieved what we want to.

Just watched Brad on X, straightforward. Saying that He Shannon, Kenny and Joe are interviewing and that they ve had 5 people interviewed and a lot of interest. Good they ve got straight down to it and that the Gallinsons have delayed going back to USA to do it. I dont think it will be long and I think they would have had favourites. I don't believe either Lindsay or Maher are involved for a minute, journalistic crap. It's the wrong time for them good really. It will be an out of work manager who's had success of some kind and I expect will be the cheapest....we don't learn, for that reason I don't expect it to be Ainsworth as he may demand too much, I hope it is. So I'm going for some other bloke who's got potential and needs a chance. Not happy about it but we ll need to back him. Hope I'm surprised and its Ainsworth.

Ainsworth was at the club today, but it sounds like so were a lot of other managers in the last week.
I’m just hoping Ainsworth talked rock music to Brad and they hit it off. He’s easily my number one choice.

Sounds like from Brads update today they’ve seen 5/6 potential managers already. I for one would be against Maher he just hasn’t the credentials at this level.Brad is impatient for promotion so I would hope he brings in someone that’s done it before.

Yep a couple of people I know have separately confirmed that Ainsworth was there, along with Warburton. So hopefully we are talking to the right people. Absolutely no way Lindsey is going to be talking to us and I don't think any other managers that are still in jobs this early on. Fingers crossed we get a good one this time and back him with players he wants!

Why worry about paying a manager from a National League when there are so many manager available from The Isle of Wight Saturday League, The United Counties League or even the Breedon Highland Football League, I bet Dean Donaldson the Manager of Inverurie Loco Works FC would jump at the chance of managing the Gills, for a hundred quid a week, a caravan down at Otterham Quey, (do they still have them there ?) and a bike to get to and from the ground , after all why spend good money on a manager that got his team into 9th place in the National League last season, the result next season would be about the same no matter which one came in out of the two. So tomorrow there is a chance that the Gills will have another local derby next season ,so good luck to Bromley ,out of interest is Bromley a part of Kent or is it Greater London ?

And it will be Bromley with Andy Woodman. No point in going for him thinking we could get him on the cheap. Leave him alone, there are some very good managers who are out of work.

My bad donut, that's funny,my bad donut, guess it should be my good donut but I don't think there is such a thing do you, there real bad for you, deep fried flour dough, yuk ? Anyway be that as it may , I thought you knew Maher was the manager of Southend United which is a team in the NATIONAL LEAGUE . My posting was supposed to be a bit sarcastic, but I guess it wasn't,so I do apologize for that. I meant we don't need to pay for a manager who will want thousands of pounds a year when we could get one for a few quid a week from a team that plays in some obscure league in the cellar of English or Scottish football, and get the same result, years and years of Second Division football. Sorry I will try and take a leaf out of your posts in future, and keep them in there simplest form, we have some seven year old kids down the road, maybe I should get them to proof read my posts in future. Sorry about that, sarcasm again,I just love it.
