Weakness In Squad

Looking forward to the new season and fully expect us to go up this season.

My main worry leading to the new campaign dawning on us is the manager has not addressed the goalkeeper position.

Jake Turner in my opinion is not a competent keeper ( never rated him ) and I truly believe most of our fans have much more faith and confidence in Glen Morris.

My choice throughout the summer Luke Southwood has gone to Bolton Wanderers recently from Cheltenham Town.

Surely there loads of keepers better than Jake even in the National League and beyond.

I do think the club and management has taken this position lightly and for granted.

Turner will never make himself a keeper that will go down in the club's history as rated among the fans.

The safe and secure pair of hands at the back provides that calmness for defences and in Turner, we don't have a keeper who is any better than most teams in our division.

Turner hasn't done enough to prove he is better than our 40 yo no2. I'd argue that morris is better with his distribution and shot stopping they are on a par. Personally I'd start with morris but we need to find another Cummings in the loan market I feel.
Other position of weakness is still up front. I'm not convinced Andrew's body is up to the rigours of pro football, no matter his talents. We are 2-3 forwards short if we want options on the pitch and on the bench. Only nevitt Gbode and wyliey are forwards of which 2 are untested at this level.

Medway...I agree if we could get a keeper similar to Jamie Cummings then we will seriously have a proper decent goalie.

Jake Turner he does lack the presence and calmness of a commanding goalie.

Jamie Cummings plays for Oxford Utd, If we could get promoted this season maybe he will be worth another look. Lol

If you are looking to build a team/squad to progress, you do not build your team around a loanee goalkeeper, centre half of centre forward.
These are key positions and need to be filled by a club player.
Loaners are only to supplement your core squad

I agree but clearly we have missed the boat with regards to permanent signings. I would have brought in another keeper, definitely another 2 strikers. We are now shopping in the loan window I feel. While a better keeper loan or perm would improve us, more striking options off the bench will get us more goals

With Josh Andrews will don't really know how good he really is and only time will tell.

I just hope our forwards can this season can score the goals needed for promotion.

Loaned goalkeepers from teams higher up the league is not a problem..but we are a league 2 outfit.

Cummings came from Chelsea U23 after 40 plus appearances for Stevenage before joining us and like Medway said Morris is most fans preferred choice as our top goalie and there many more better loan keepers around than Turner even though he is kinda established at our club, but never really convinced me he is going places.

There are clearly gaps in the squad, but I’d have keeper fairly low on my list of priorities.
I don’t think much will happen unless we get the likes of Nadesan, Lapslie and Hawkins off the wage bill. We still lack depth in pretty much every outfield position in my opinion.

Oh well, here we go, Swans has decided that Turner is this years fall guy. It’s a bit early to start throwing insults at players.

Looks like Hawkins is causing doubts about leaving as he is playing at centre back in most of the pre- season matches,.

Just a very good opinion on a keeper who in my eyes is not that good.

Much rather have Morris as our number one to start the season.
