Wyllie, Wakeling, Nevitt, Rowe, Andrews, Dack, Nolan. What have they all in common ? Well, they are the newest of our signings, the guys who were supposed to be spearheading our promotion push this season - and not one of them made the starting line up today.
So did we look markedly worse without them ? I would suggest we did not, in fact if our keeper had not had such a first half nightmare we might well have been deservedly in the lead at half time. Then, when the 'new' faces were brought on I could detect no improvement in effort, no difference in skillset and no improvement in our goal threat.
Of the few positives from a fourth defeat on the bounce I thought at last Gbode showed there might be a footballer in there somewhere and midfield worked hard with some decent touches. Clarke is a mystery but at least he scores occasionally. Hawkins was again useless. There seems to be the idea that referees are part of a conspiracy against him but the simple fact is that he just backs into and leans into his marker without any attempt to play the ball. Not surprisingly he gets his shirt pulled as a result, falls down a lot and refs just don't buy it.
On this board there has been some discussion about Hess and Jackett. With every game that passes we get further evidence of their failings.

I big time struggle to argue with much of that, my word, its desperate isnt it? I hear all the reasonable talk online about not getting rid of Bonner, we did the same last year and look what happened, ooh its mealy mouthed. What happened last year wasnt getting grid of Harris, it was who they recruited! So getting rid of Bonner is not a problem if you want promotion and if, you employ tbe right bloke! If this continues, or even a sniff of it, whatever anyone says, bonner will have to go full stop, it cant carry on and I think it will because hes lost it already. Closely followed by the two jokers picking players...its ridiculous.

Donut...we have to get rid of those guys who are influencing player transfers.
Ogie and Coleman are both sub standard players and I would have banished them to the reserves or loaned them out to Chatham Town.
I think Bonner's ego in his recent interviews make him look rather foolish. The sense of sarcasm filters through in his pre and post match interviews, some of the players will be thinking he only got Cambridge promoted during covid with no fans.
The "Burty Big Bollocks" attitude and looking up to the clouds during interviews is very telling indeed.
