have to say one of the highlights so far this season is always the excellent £2 sausage and chips from the chippy on the corner just up the road from the co-op. the food that is now served inside the ground is appalling. my friend was still hungry after our visti to the chippie and so took the plunge with a plain burger when we got to the ground - we were practiclaly the first ones in the ground (medway stand) and were told they had run out of plain burgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unfortunately he has a severe allergy to dairy and cannot touch cheese so had an overpriced pie, water and kit kat instead. the pie was overcooked and fell to bits, the drinks coolers had obviously just been switched on as the water was warm and the kit kat, which also came from a cooler, was already soft. i was still peckish and had a burger and wished i hadn't - obviously fresh from the microwave, the bun was crispy in the centre, damp and soggy on the outside and the "meat" content was dry and tasted like it had been produced in the michelin factory. all in all nearly £10 and a total rip off, i don't mind paying as you would like to think all income can only benefit our club, but the quality on offer is one of the poorest I have found at any ground and the pricing one of the most expensive. surely if the food on offer was better and priced a little more sensibly they more people would use the outlets?
amazingly for anyone who has tried the club's matchday hospitality packages such as watch, wine and dine, the food served inside is excellent, really top notch and spot on. it is therefore mind boggling that they can get it so right indoors and so wrong in their outlets. why bother putting drinks and chocolate in coolers if they are just going to be obviously left switchedd off most of the time? could someone from compass not turn them on a few hours prior to the game?
interested to know what others think about the catering at gfc....
