Luke has started as striker in the game v Glenn Hoddle academy today. For me Roo should have been played up front before. He has all the skills and is a good finisher.I think he is to light weight in midfield. He may even be good cover for Cody. What do you think?

I would only ever play Rooney as a sub for the last 10 or 15 minutes of a game. I certainly wouldn't play him up front as he has no pace to run in behind and put defenders under pressure, does not have enough strength to play with his back to goal and bring in other players and he can't even compete in the air with midfielders nearer his size let alone centre halves. I am not his greatest fan but he has good vision and can play a telling through ball which, when the defence tires in the last 15 minutes, can be very useful. If he plays the weekend I hope he has a blinder though!! UTG

Fabian Brandy,Adam Birchall are not that big.I would just like to see him given a run of reserve games. He played there as a youngster for Charlton.Playing him 90 mins on the wing is asking a lot of the full back behind him, what about in a Paul shaw type roll all I am saying is give it a try in the reserves.

Brandy and Birchall have pace. You are right that reserve games are there for different things to be tried I just gave you my thoughts on what I feel the negatives and positives are about playing Rooney. The trouble with a Paul Shaw role for Gillingham at the moment is that when he used to play he had Hess,Paul Smith,Mark Saunders... behind him. I don't feel we have a good enough midfield to cope with a Paul Shaw/luxury role at this present time.
