Have just read Norwich City's discussion board, yes there certainly is some variable opinions concerning Simeon/Cody, for me however no argument, Cody every time, feel we got the best of the deal that took Simeon to Norwich.

Not sure that's entirely fair. We've improved Cody a lot as a player already. I have no doubt he's better than when he started, but his goals to attempts is still something he can work on. In the championship, he'd get fewer chances and wouldn't score as many goals. Jacko for me had exactly the same problem. That's why he's struggling at Norwich

Think Jackson and McDonald are have different problems. Jackson's goals to chances ratio is far better than McDonald's I would imagine, however I believe that Cody contributes more in open play e.g. coming short, running down the line etc where as Jackson is much more a poacher who only comes alive in the 18 yard box.

Jackson is a confidence player.... Norwich won't see the best of him if he spends most of his time on the bench...

I remember posting just after the season began that I thought Cody would get to the 20 goal mark this season and several replies said I was way off the mark.
Well, I think he can do even better than that now. He looks to be really on his game and for me he is a far better team player when compared to Jackson.
Jackson was a good player and more than repaid his transfer fee when he got the Wembley winner but I still think he was overrated - Grant Holt was - and still is - a better striker than Jackson and that's one reason why Jacko is on the bench each week.
I wish him well, he'll always be remembered for his part in our promotion and rightly so - but I think that given time Cody will play at a higher level on a more regular basis.

I remember posting just after the season began that I thought Cody would get to the 20 goal mark this season and several replies said I was way off the mark. No one said he couldn't score 20 goals - it was more that people who hadn't seen him play reckoned he would score 20 goals on the basis he score 13 goals in 15 matches or whatever the ratio was for Dartford. The 'doubters' thought we should see how he reacted to this level first - it can be a significant leap of standard from Dartford's level to Gillingham's...

Cody has great vision and reads the game far better than jackson but as others have said Jackson's a better finisher and it has to be said had Simeon played along side Bayo he may have scored far more goals. He did have to play along side some very ordinary strikers. Which I believe makes a big difference.

Wow people turn round quickly. . . . . . Like dickwroe was never a great fan of Simeon, definitely a poacher, nought wrong with that so was Jimmy Greaves!, but Simeon was never a play maker and I felt he was lacking in body strength. As has been said maybe if playing alongside a more able forward Simeon would have scored more prolifically, but as has been stated Cody has improved tremendously with the Gills, is capable of making the running and shows greater vision. For me Cody every time, sorry Simeon. Read more: gillsconnected.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=messageboard&action=display&thread=2340#ixzz1BI6H09B7

It wasn't a case of judging him on his Dartord form - that would be silly. He was an exciting signing, even though most of us hadn't seem him play, partly because of his outstanding non-league record, but mostly because of how highly the Norwich fans rated him. I've got a couple of mates who are Norwich fans and also spoke to some of their fans at our Carling Cup defeat and the reckoned we'd got a real gem who would get 20 goals. Thats why I had faith at the start of the season. On the other hand, I was also excited about Stefan Payne based on his pre-season form, and have to say he doesn't look upto it, though he is only 18
