Lucozade Sport Football have a Facebook page. not sure how I ended up signing up to it but I did.
anyway they only ever post anything about Premiership teams on there, again not sure why I joined but they just put a question up:
Who is the greatest striker ever to have played in the Premier League?
I immediately put Ade up and promptly spent the next 10 minutes trying to think of other ex-Gills STRIKERS who've played in the Prem. Who else has graced the promised land that once played for us?
Can't win anything, was just interested and bored.

Darius Henderson...
Not sure that I'd include Claridge since he only played once for us a long, long time after playing in the premier league.

The best attacking player that came from Gills to the premier league was Matty Jarvis but not really a striker but of course Henderson played a many more games as a attacking midfielder while in the premier league. The reason is simply we have had very few young strikers of quaility through youth ranks over the years.Buying in largely cheap players from other clubs mean few will go on to get to the top of the game.We do have better youth players in the pipeline so maybe one day we will be able to watch a ex gills player playing regularly for England.I hope so!!!
