Due to lack of interest according to Shots Trust

Apologies but due to lack of interest the coach has been cancelled. Refunds should be collected at the Trust Office at the next home game. Thanks DaveDavy Boy Posts: 11 Joined: Fri Feb 02, 2007 11:58 am Location: Aldershot Private message
Surprising really as new manager Dean Holdsworth has revived their fortunes. It may be more down to fans finances with the coach fare £18 + match ticket £23 + food and drink so not much change out of 50 quid

I have a couple of old work colleagues who were going to the match by their bus.... that might explain the missed call from one of them while I was out earlier.... Hmmmm....

Surely we want them to come - 450 x £23 a pop helps our finances....
I think part of the problem is that the cost of the coach here is a lot more expensive than some of their longer trips up norf....

I think part of the problem is that the cost of the coach here is a lot more expensive than some of their longer trips up norf.... it makes me wonder how many away fans don't come to Priestfield because it's 23 quid?My guess is at this time of year there may well be as many drop out because of the Brian Moore stand open to wind and rain. When you add the two up high ticket price poor stand I think that is the reason. We are also lucky as a club that so many people make a real effort spend so much time and money to get to away games.Well done to everyone who regularly makes it to away games.I can only make a few each season due to family commitments.

Regularly go on other forums and almost evert Home game without exception the price we charge is mentioned in pre and post match threads, so its definitely an issue.
Just charge them £12 or something and we'd get twice as many for most games maybe more for the local ones, helps create a much better atmosphere and you sell more food etc.....everyone is happy.

On a purely financial basis, reducing the price to £12 would only be justified if teams brought twice as many supporters as they do now.
Given that we are in a South Eastern outpost (get as far as London then keep going for another hour or 2!) adnsit in the open, su bjected to all the elamnts already don;t make it attractive, Add to that most Gills supporters dreams of making it 0 points (and a thumping!) plus subjected to an intimidating atmosphere, then there to amke sure away supporters don't enjoy their day here too much.
On the other hand, i don't feel comfortable with the notion that away fans are not welcome - particularly if we were charged £23 for away games - I am talking as someone who goes to more away games than home. .

The Idea of charging a fair price for that stand is a good one I would say 15 quid would be fair all round.

Aren't the prices partly decided by the bank? Not officially of course, but I always got the impression that the bank thinks higher prices = higher income and what with them agreeing to amend the finances etc.....
Oh and it is only the official club coach.... there is apparently an old gits coach as well...... I suppose their equivalent to the GISC buses to Scally's....
