I see that Chris Whelpdale was not even on the sub's bench for Peterborough last night. Unless he was injured this could be looked on as good news for the Gills as he may not feature in Darren Ferguson's plans and could well be available for loan?

He hasn't been on the bench for a few games now. I have a feeling we may well get him in until the end of the season

ergos posting seems to put an end to that quest, but then boardrooms have been known to be a little generous with their dealings with truth. Maybe not in this instance, but having said their squad is strong enough to go up, therefore no player movement in or out, does it not seem odd that they refuse an out of favour player the chance of first team competitive workout until the end of season. Having just read the article ref. Andy Crofts and Matty Jarvis, bringing back memories of Andy and our manager of the time, I wonder if a parallel can be drawn between Crofts/manager and Whelpdale/manager

Seems a real shame. I do think that if we were to prize Whelpdale away from Peterborough it could make all the difference to whether we go straight up or have to go through the Play-offs. I am hoping that before the loan window shuts we can up our offer and get him back here - seems crazy to me as he's just sitting in their reserves at the moment. If we don't get him I hope we can get someone else in - either another wide player in the Whelpdale mould or another striker. If we are serious about promotion then surely we should relax the purse strings a little - a few bob spent now to ensure promotion would make a huge financial gain if we are in Div 1 next season!
