I don't know. We know prices here are high but reduce them by (say) 20% and you have to sell 20% more tickets to bring in the same revenue and I'm not sure you would.
On the subject of ticket prices, I had vague plans to bring a group of my son's friends to the Ipswich friendly until I saw the prices. £14 to watch a training game! Really? and £4 each for the kids - I can take them to lots of league games for less than that. Will there be anybody there?

Its no wonder that this site gets to PS - just the first few words would be enough to get me going if I was in his position
And 0/10 for spelling lol
GILLS CHAIRMAN SCALLY SHOULD EVAULATE BURY MODEL could be - SHOULD THE GILLS CHAIRMEN EVALUATE THE BURY MODEL?
And heard it on the grapevine - making news out of a unsubstantiated rumour and making assumptions about expectations
I heard a rumour that we were going to play in day glow orange with pink spots

BURY TOWN? Is this the non league team from Suffolk ? Please get the basics right before pending a story! It brings to mind that embarressing Gills programme of a few years ago when they printed the Gills opposition incorrectly!

Remember it well when Gills played WBA and front page had BROMICH instead of BROMWICH. Baggies fan Adrian Chiles came in the Franklin Rooms before the game for a pint and I told him it was the Printers error so see them

We all make mistakes from time to time but appreciate you durhamgills from pointing out errors - I'm always happy to learn from my betters. The article in question was not meant to upset Scally or though I couldn't care less what he thinks about stories on the the site or GillsConnect. It was meant to provoke thought and possible message board conversation/comments about match day ticket prices in and around the lower leagues. This was a genuine attempt to get fans thinking about possible other ways of gaining revenue streams.
In keeping this site informative and thought provoking I can honestly say that Paul Sally hardly enters my thoughts but thank you durhamgills for reminding me that he might be an avid reader of GillsConnect - I hope if this is the case that he will learn and appreciate Gills fans views. Keep up the good work always nice to hear from you durham.

This was a genuine attempt to get fans thinking about possible other ways of gaining revenue streams. I thought the site wanted to work closer with the club? The message is fine but could have been put across in a different way which would have provoked the same debate Getting the fans thinking about alternative revenue streams is only part of the debate, getting PS and the club thinking is more vital

Unfortunately when Mr Scally has reduced prices for game the club has clearly lost money.Hard as it may sound unless we have someone who is willing and able to sink their money into the club I can't see much change in the near future to prices. Many in Medway have no interest in our club even though they would call themselves football supporters.Unless that begins to change only Promotion would bring in more fans but that in turn means you need more money for players.Talk to Scally great and among ourselves but the facts remains the same. Lower prices mean less money for players which is likely to lead to a poorer team. This in turn means lower budgets as we are likely to move down a league at least.Bury are very different to us both as a club and in terms of geography . Colchester Utd, Southend and Orient would be same of the sorts of club we can look at as a real comparison.

Don't know where you got the idea that this site wanted to work closer with the club. Although that possibly would be nice we would still want to be independent and that might cause the Chairman to disagree with stories/comment - and anyway it has never been my objective. The club has made it clear in the past that they want nothing whatsoever to do with GillsConnect as threatened legal action has shown. It is also a misconception that this site is someway involved with the supporters club GISC. This is not true as I and other contributors to the site are not members of that club which is primarily an away travel facility. The Football Club have their own web-site that I sometimes enjoy and GillsConnect is hopefully an attractive alternative. Whether Paul Scally or any of his staff read or follow what GillsConnect put on-line is is of no interest to me but if they were to comment or make themselves known they would be given the same courtesy as other genuine Gills fans.
I'm currently in Spain and trying to keep the site up-to-date with poor internet connection which is time-consuming and why unfortunately a few errors have occurred.

This is the day/age and area we live in, who was the club, in scotland i think, who said basically pay what you want/can, can you imagine if the gills, or most other clubs did that, everyone apart from the morally correct few would just stick a quid in the pot and say 'well the club did say pay what you want or can' we all almost expect something for nothing nowadays.
