Season has not started yet and the inquest is already beginning. I have worked at many, many trade shows over the years and it's always the same. Show starts at 9 am and the analysis starts at 9.05. Come on now! Lets give the lads and PT a chance. The pitches and the atmosphere of League 1 will be better and that will fire up the lads. No reason to hold back now. Who remembers the lad from Dover (Birchall) getting hurt in pre-season at Welling? That was him done and dusted. Our boys will be going for it and Cody/Keds etc will be banging them in. COYG

I can honestly see it being a long, hard ,season struggling to stay up.Loft and the injection of pace in the middle/flanks is very welcome but we are woefully lacking an older, quality head up front(think lisbie/kevin davies) to bring on our forward line(who mainly seem to play like strangers). Our defence has been awful at this level and Egan aside, look to be struggling to step up to the plate. To top it all,PT has said that although he has a CB whose legs have clearly gone at this level(hence he's been transfer listed),he may still get to play. This tells me that PT has been unable to find a better replacement in the entire pre-season .What a joke!!!. Davies has looked unsure,Fish is unproven and very inexperienced,Martin is a liability at times and Legge blows hot and cold.PT has constantly tinkered with the team pre-season and I still don't think he knows his best 11.Btw , Norris looks like another Mulligan(headless chicken if I've ever seen one) .Let's hope they all prove me wrong.

The main problem will be confidence and consistency. This will be a tough season but maybe one of our most rewarding if and only if we can stay up.This may sound depressing to some but have no doubt this is a fight that may well go to the wire. But the thing that has changed is unlike most of our history most of our squad has a degree of quality and youth about it.Some will be a success some will fail. But I really think year on year we have something. In this country young players are being increasingly side lined. Our star youngster gets signed by a top club.He would be unlikely to get a game for them a loan deal is all they have to offer. Playing real games for a real side is what lads want. This is something we offer. But the senior lads simply have to pull their weight.I am with Hess on this I believe looking forward to better football but expecting a struggle come out on top of that struggle and we can then move forward.

Agree tk that the defence/ names you mention isn't good, but this season we do have options. Egan looked ok in the middle, loft more than capable at left back if required and hare did fine against Ipswich. Appreciate in friendlies, but we need to give these guys a chance and if they fail then the loan market is available.
