Didn't look at this game until it was over and the 2 - 3 score was a major disappointment. We were starting to believe our recent results were a true reflection of our ability but today it came down to earth. Will wait for the match report before commenting further. Every ;point is very important now.

After not going for over two months my conclusion of today's match!
Chesterfield the better team!
Still No leader in the Gills team,Loft came alive for the two Gills goals then disappeared into oblivion!
No attacking menace in the final third!
Egan stands out as a shining light for the team!
Taylor still tactically inept, why did he replace Dack?
Relegation more than likely!
What has happened to Hoyte who was very impressive when I saw him play?

It seemed to me that certain players were not playing in their best position, Loft in the first half.

It was not a surprise because we cannot defend as a team, same old mistakes that have littered our season so far, all to familiar scenarios and Doncaster result was not a true reflection that we have turned the corner, dickenson is nowhere near being good enough to be playing first team football in league one, if taylor cannot see it like I can, there is no hope that taylor can address a poor season where far too many poor goals have been conceded and we continue to leak goals in until taylor is gone,
I love gillingham fc but I know Taylor is a muppet and taking us nowhere quick. Give him time, I don't think so,

We are where we are because other teams are not doing too well either.

Yes, we are lacking leaders and the quality in midfield is very poor, it's important that we control the game in the centre of the park which will more often than not result in a positive outcome, so when was the last time we dominated a side Hess junior should not be first choice, apart from his crossing and set piece crosses he lacks the necessary quality to play at league one, I know what's best for this club and I'm not being arrogant, but excuses that will come out during post match comments will be all to familar to gills fans, Taylor is the heart of all that is bad at this club, Simple question to all gills fans , are you confident we can progress next season under a manager who cannot beat a injury hit Chesterfield side with their top scorer on the bench, our results and performances reflect very much on taylors shortcoming, please don't kid yourself gills fans if you think long term we are going to the championship under our current boss, because it's not going to happen,

I thought young Hess had a reasonable game today

I don't think he is bad but there are much better players around with more creativity, balance, pace, eye for a goal and playing on the front foot something young Hess clearly lacks, in my book he can only cross and take corners, for me he is a passenger, only in because his father is in with the boss. Sad to say, but true.

Young Hess might have had a good game, but he's an easy target for the doom and gloom merchants who couldn't wait to get on this message board and criticise, after being silent last week after a terrific away win. I wasn't wildly pleased with how Taylor set us up today. I don't like players out of position and there were too many and I never like one upfront at home. However, Chesterfield had 2 efforts in the first half. They scored from one and the other was cleared off the line. Other than that, we controlled the game. 2nd half, Taylor changed it and we got back in the game. He subbed Dack because he was awful and was more likely to be sent off than do anything positive. The 3rd took the wind out of our sails, but Cody still fluffed a sitter to equalise.its a shame as the team came out of the blocks well, passed the ball well and looked confident. I'm positive if we play like that but defend better, we'll get something on Boxing Day. Hopefully we will go back to a back 5 for that game

Sad to say, but true. So you missed the excellent pass out to loft in the first half that created one of our best chances and the numerous tackles in midfield? We all know you have an agenda but to suggest Hess jr plays because of some kind of nepotism at the club is just pathetic

unfortunately football is a results business the football and results from taylor have been way below acceptability in my book, if you you think we are heading the right way under taylor you are clearly deluded.

i would love hess junior to prove me wrong but i have seen him play enough times to make a good judgement on his overall ability and he clearly lacks the cutting edge to make even a average league 2 player, we are were we are because most of the players are poor in our side, only nelson, legge, loft, egan and cody are good enough in my book. it really frustrates me that we are so poor, the word organised and well drilled in not in taylors vocabulary and there cannot be any argument regarding that because the results have proved that beyond doubt.

We could have lost by more today. Chesterfield missed 3 good chance where it looked easier to score than miss. Two were hoofed high over the bar and one the player missed the goal by miles. I didn't hear Taylor give his post match interview on RK. Doug loft did it, so has Taylor given his excuses?. Perhaps he will decide to replay any of his previous interviews because there's not much difference in them. Tony Hudd on RK alluded to the fact that there may well be surprising changes in January. Whether he was guessing or he has inside knowledge I don't know.

There were 5/6 players today who performed awfully and should be ashamed of their contributions. Looks like legge will need dropping again for two games so he will come back good again and the midfield in General was poor and off the pace. If loft had scored the early chance when we were on top the game would have gone our way. I have read above about the chances they missed and we could have lost by more, but we missed at least three v good chances via legges clear header, loft and Cody. We cannot continue to miss these in tight games like today.
