Actually it is. He was hated at Milwall before joining us and they've only offered him a year, where is was rumoured we'd offered two. There's no doubt they are a bigger club, but I wonder if he's made a mistake for his career. I'm certainly gutted we don't have him for next year. Back to the drawing board and we need a quality partner for Cody. Best of luck to him though- was great for us

What a great pity this is why I think we should be trying to get players of this calibre and aiming high.

Just heard from an insider at the New Den saying it was more to do with Gills not willing to meet their valuation fee

Don't see that. It would have gone to a tribunal to set the fee because of his age. I think it's just because he's good friends with Harris who has probably guaranteed him a starting place. The problem might be,is if Millwall are not getting results.

it wouldn't be the first and certainly not the last time we lose out due to scally trying to do everything on the cheap
whilst it is prudent to spend wisely, marquis is young, and any fee would merely be an investment as if he carried his from for us on from last season there is no doubt in a year os so he would have been sold for a big fee
if this is the case then scally has been very short sighted indeed
at the moment we are going into next season with a very weakened team - anyone talking about play-offs at this stage is diluded

Get the feeling scally is being cautious after getting his fingers burnt over the useless Antonio German who he paid money for and handed out a 2 year contract before paying him off early

While Marquis had a excellent start he hardly set the world alight at the end of the season and if it did mean breaking the bank to sign him frankly I would prefer we did that for Garmston or Ehmer.

I think Ehmer is definitely the bigger catch if Gills can get him. I'm sure most League One clubs would be quite content with centre-halves of the calibre of Egan and Ehmer. As for strikers, Marquis is a loss because he had youth on his side, but maybe we can go for one of the old lags who always score regularly at our level, like Izale MacLeod, to partner Cody Mac. I only hope we don't persist with Norris as a regular starter up front. I'm convinced he just doesn't have what it takes.

Agree stato, I would pay out for Ehmer above marquis any day of the week. Still, shame he hasn't signed for us and can't understand why one year accepted as other clubs were said to be interested and still very early in the transfer merry go round. Still wish him the best, until we play them of course.

Totally agree, didn't seem the same player in his latter games, maybe he wanted to make the most of few games for us,and hoped to sign for a club?, as millwall WERE obviously letting him go come May,Except he scored plenty in a few games. He's played for millwall first team before as well, but assume didn't set the world alight!!?.. I wish him well (But not against us!!), now we need to move on,and wave goodbye, lets hope JE has his eyes on some decent talent... PS. was it JE that brought him in on loan?, or the 4 amigo's......

I think we will have to wait until Chris Ramsey decides if he wants to keep Max,and then we maybe in a bidding war to sign him. Whilst I think Marquis would have been a good signing Ehmer is a better one. I think he would be worth the fight to get him.
