Won't be holding my breath for investment, but hope instead we produce on the pitch for bigger and better things.

20 years? How is that possible? :-D
I think the main reason no investor has been found is that PS wants someone who will put up the cash but let him retain control, which seems unlikely.
That said, I'm happy ATM. Unlike some, I don't have any ambitions to see Premiership football at Priestfield (or wherever it might be). I like supporting a real club and am happy if we stay afloat and have an occasional promotion or almost promotion season. Becoming a big club would ruin it for me.

Does anyone know what happened to the shares in the Club.
I bought some years ago and have heard nothing for years.
If I was an oligarch that was well minted, I would hesitate before investing.

You mean the ones from the floatation jockmcgill?
What happened when the company was re-privatised? You must have had some communication then. Unless they were sold back, you'll still own the shares, but there's no market to sell them on.
It might be possible to sell them privately, but the M&AA for most private companies requires that they're first offered to the existing shareholders and that any sale has to be agreed by the other shareholders.

From the dusty recesses of my memory, wasn't there some issue with the original flotation? I seem to remember that when the shares were first put on the market, no-one realised that there were already some shares in private hands which meant no-one could gain a controlling stake in the club and so the share price plummeted. The only perk seemed to be getting your name in tiny print on a specially designed football shirt. Of course, if any of that is factually incorrect I will withdraw it immediately and offer unreserved apologies to anyone who is in a position to sue me for large sums of money (which I don't have because my Gills shares bombed).
