Good afternoon all round for the Gills. Really enjoyed the match today and the other team scores went in our favour. In my opinion it was a very important match to win. Without a doubt the team moral will be good for the next games that we have to play. Josh Wright was my MOM played a blinder today.

We edged the first half,Barnsley edged the second,do glad we won excellent result!: Josh Wright was excellent today but he has been consistent all season ! Donnelly impressed me today his effort and the fact he had a hand in both goals also was a factor in our victory! Overall the team played well but they needed to be against a very good Barnsley team! Mawson for Barnsley lived up to his hype winning every ball in the air but he was caught out by Donnelly and Samuel superbly for the first goal! Definately a great mental victory for Gills today, onwards and upwards come on you Gills!

Gritty performance this afternoon by the whole team. Definately looking like promotion material to me. What do other posters think/feel.

Great result against a team I can't remember seeing us beat it's been that long. Wright excellent with ehmer a very close second. As you say a very important win which will see us kick on.

Agree, but overall a good team performance against a very good Barnsley team! According to one of their supporters average youngest team in the league ,I thought we were but I suppose Nelson brings up our average!

It needed a lively match to keep out the cold. Gills did very well as a team with Wright outstanding and Ehmer very safe in defence. If they take confidence from this result automatic promotion is back on.

I agree but I still can't get my head around why Dack has to take every corner ( really not good on Saturday ) as it was the same every time he takes a corner. Other teams will know this from watching the match DVDs and why oh why do we have to have two players on the free kicks again every team would know that Dack will take the kick. If I know it they will. It's normally loft that's there and he would be better off in the box.

I have to agree with you Gillsjan, Garmston/Dickerson used to take the corners but they put the quick left backs on the centre circle to combat counter attacks. No reason Loft cant take them I think Dack could be better employed in or around the box. Overall with regard to yesterday: Nelson - solid but tends to get beaten low on the ground and I would like him to come out more for corners. Garmston - Superb for the 65 mins he was on had Ishgrove and the full back on toast and looked a threat going forward so much so that Barnsley doubled up on him in the second half. He was very good defensively took a bad kick to the upper part of his shin. Chickson made one exceptional saving header when he came on and solid defensively but offered nothing going forwards. Morris very solid and reliable and worked hard at right back. Did we miss jacksons long throws ? are they predicable ? Egan and Ehmer superb and Ehmer had another commanding game. Josh wright MOM ran his heart out and perhaps JED realises that he cant take him off towards the end of the game leaves us defensively weak. One slight blip[ was when he switched off for Barnsleys free Kick which resulted in a goal. Osadabe - unpredictable as a player and makes it up as he goes along - sound first half but got a little lost and tired due to lack of games in the second half
Loft -had a very good game produced a few excellent passes which on another day would have resulted in at least two assists. Dack not his best game gave the ball away too often and tried to do too much on occasions but will be still seen as the top dog because he scored. Donnelly -won many headers and flick ons but should have scored two goals. however he did provide two assists. Samuels -superb opening goal ran well and worked hard possibly should have had a second. Overall a gritty and at times exciting game. Gills have ended a 7 match unbeaten run. There was some excellent neat one touch football around the box on occasions by the Gills and a great team effort.

I am almost in agreement with evo.Garmston did make some great runs. But I do feel that Chicksen really helped secure the win that miss hit back pass apart.Morris had for me his best ever game at full back.He is becoming a very reliable player. However Jackson's pace means we have width that is so valuable to a side with no natural wingers. As for his throws they are a good method of moving down field or crosses but lack that killer accuracy that in the absence of a Leon Legge or Peter Crouch type player we too often really depend on winning that second ball. Egan seemed to have a quiet game. While Ehmer won everything. In general the team were very solid defensively. Loft for me had a patchy game some really good mixed with the odd poor touch which of course was pointed too by 10% of the crowd so he appeared worse than he was.Osabede impresses me when you take into account his youth and his lack of experience. He wins loads in the air and has good feet but does seemed to get lost at times. But he isn't that far from what Bradley Dack was like at his age.Wright had a top game without a doubt his best in a blue shirt since Wembley 2009.He fully deserved the Rainham end chants at the end of the game.It was not the Best game for Bradley but he got stuck into doing a job for the team and with typical Dack ability was there to tuck away the winner. Up top both Samuel and Donnelly had their moments there pace was key to the first goal. But together we were a bit disjointed at times as a attacking force. It will being interesting to see how this Williams fits in in the coming games.
