Oh no, not again. We lead and then give up a late equalizer. Better than a loss but that two points would have made a huge difference to us in the table. Bit of a gap opening up finally in the bottom 2 and 3. COYG

I’d always take a point away and 4 points in the last two is very welcome. Well done, gills.

Holding a lead late in the game has been our problem since the Romans left....

It was a solid Gills performance and although disappointing at the end it was another point to safety and with some important games to come this month against bottom sides. Conditions were terrible - high winds and driving rain throughout.
Barry Fuller had a good game both defensively, and in attack down the left. He created the cross for Gills one and only shot on target and Eaves headed in a beauty into the bottom right-hand corner just inside the post. Unfortunately Fuller gave away a desperate tackle on the edge of the area from which a beautiful curled free-kick ball into the top right hand corner of Holy's net became the equaliser. Will have to look at it again but feel that Holy had no chance.
Gills also had a couple of half-chances with first Hanlan did not get onto a cross with sufficient power and List the same from close in. Fleetwood also had a few near misses and although Gills could have done with all three points - it was probably a fair result. There are signs that this Gills side are a more compact team these days and, although not setting the League alight, have more than enough quality now to save themselves from the drop.

That was one point I did not include in my end of season forecast of 55pts. Only 4pts between 20th and 13th . Lots of clubs sweating not just us.

Many thanks iblue, like to read a constructive report, again backs up what I cleaned from the media. Could be an important point come the end of the season.

I saw the video and to mr it looked like Holy was hell bent on looking for a header not the kick that went past him without him moving. It appeared he was actually looking away from the incoming ball. Plus not a single Gills head to get it away? Looked a bad goal to me,

Before the match I would of been more than happy with a draw. At least the goal they scored wasn't a goal that won the match for them.

Sunnyboy: The free-kick was going out wide and possibly fooled Holy and defenders but you have to appreciate the wind was wild and pulled the ball back into the very top corner and although you could say Holy should have anticipated the curl it would be a bit harsh on our goalie. He saved Gills with a brilliant stop in the first half so it is probably right to cut him a bit of slack in this instance.
We should forget the 'lost' three points and welcome the one which was hard fought for and is going to prove valuable come May.
