i just wanted to know what all the fans thought if keds was starting in all the games he has missed, would we be in a higher or lower position. keds is a workhorse but he doesn't have enough about him to change a game like cody or bayo, so for me keds should not be here next season and i for one believe he hampers our style and i always believed cody would come up trumps with his goals with a sustained run in the side and bayo complements him too. i firmly believe is keds was playing we would be in a lower position than present.

a difficult one for sure and huge headache for the manager
keds workrate is second to none and his tracking back to defend is superb
however for me he has simply not scored enough goals for a no.9, take away his penalties and the goal return is poor
whilst goals are not everything, effort and desire aside i just think he struggles to read the game at league level and by the time he has realised what is going on, it is too late
he has also never gelled with anyone he has been paired with up front, therefore you can only really play him in a 4-5-1 - and with his low goals return from open play, this requires the rest of the team to score more than regularly
if we had a huge budget i would keep him for his passion and desire alone, but the fact is we simply look a better shape team without him - so for the good of the team i have to say yes, we are better off without him
the heart says no but the brain can only say yes, so i can see him back at afc dons next season

Frankly Bayo has enjoyed a run in the side and played well.Would we have scored more goals? No. Would we have let in fewer goals?Yes. I believe we defend better with Keds in the side. It is impossible to tell if we would have been better off and frankly not worth worrying about. All I will say is I believe both our centre forwards have offered enough for our needs this season.Sure we need to improve which means it is likely that Taylor or whoever is manager may need to think carefully before we resign them.My call would be we should keep one of them not sure I would want or we indeed need to pick who as yet.

100% agree with mrpthegillsfan. In my opinion he takes up space up front which is better served by Bayo, Cody and probably now Pigott. Can anyone see Kedwell scoring any of those goals that those three have scored? That leaves a conundrum of where to fit him in. We're well covered in mid field, so I seriously wonder if he could be a centre back, instead of Barrett or Leggge. He's a good header, can take penalties, and would be an asset up front at corners.

Agree with you there, swansgill888. You have to give Kedwell E for effort, but unfortunately he achieves little other tangible results on the field of play.. Cody McDonald is probably the only bona fide League 1 player we have up front. The squad definitely needs strengthening if Mr.Scally has any ambition of promotion in the future.

Our squad has been improved by PT. Both the additions and the improvement in existing players. That means more competition and more options. Kedwell offers plenty and will feature again and will score more goals this season. I have no need to criticize the others to make a case for Kedwell, his football does that for him. Anyone, who believes he is just a workhorse is missing a lot that the manager is clearly aware of. We do not know how long Piggot will stay and he has jumped from zero to hero on the back of a goal. We do not know if players' form will hold up. We are fairly sure what we will get from Danny Kedwell.

If we play two up front, then Bayo and Cody should start. If we play one up front, then Kedwell is the best man.
In terms of better results without Kedwell, I am not sure it is necessarily because he hasn't been playing. I think a bigger part is that Taylor goes with 2 up front and plays more positively with a proper pairing.

I seriously wonder if he could be a centre back, instead of Barrett or Leggge. He's a good header, can take penalties, and would be an asset up front at corners. But he can't tackle, isn't good at marking from open play and his defensive positional ability is questionable (in the context of the levels necessarily to play in defence)

Totally agree with your first comment johnknee, which is exactly as I have put on this site numerous times. As to next season, whilst he had a great start to this season, he run out of goals and I don't think PT, if he is still here, will sign him next term. He will be looking for a younger player, I assume like Piggott to take on the role.

Keds better get fit because he can go to Maidstone utd and Luke Rooney can come back next season to the gills , lol
Seriously though, I truly believe keds needs to move on next season, there is no way he can be a first team player, Cody is class.

I seem to remember the same comments before this season started, before his injury Kedwell proved the doubters wrong in my book and can do so again. The guys a fighter and you need guys like Keds in any league.

Can not dispute that Keds is a fighter and he gives his all every minute he spends on the pitch, however do believe he is not a L1 striker and would like to see him played in mid field. That said who would you drop to put him in, seems to me that he is fated to become a squad player if he remains with Gills.

How can you say he's not a League 1 striker when he's still our second-highest goal-scorer, despite being out with a hernia ? He is Gillingham through-and-through (as well as being one of the best penalty takers we've ever had) and I think the Gillingham squad would be weaker without him. At the moment he's also the best suited forward if we go 4-5-1.

Maybe we still need the likes of Ked on the bench?

Not sure he will want to be a bench warmer and that wouldn't be good for club unless he is prepared to take a big pay cut.
