Why has he suddenly become only a bench warmer? Before his injury he was seen as an integral part of the team!

How can you say he's not a League 1 striker when he's still our second-highest goal-scorer, despite being out with a hernia ? He is Gillingham through-and-through (as well as being one of the best penalty takers we've ever had) and I think the Gillingham squad would be weaker without him. At the moment he's also the best suited forward if we go 4-5-1. He is our second highest scorer by virtue of the fact that he is our best proven penalty taker, when playing 1 up front (Keds) our overall performances/results were below that that we have achieved since Keds has been out. Do not question his loyalty or effort but still think he is not a L1 No9.

I don't think we should be that desperate to move on a few years in this league would be no bad thing. Kedwell does a job we need a few players around the place who care about Gillingham Football Club.Over the years we have had many players who have had more quality than Keds and we may have one or two at the moment. But commitment and will to win are often more important Andy Hessenthaler was not the most skillful player we have ever had but the most he like Keds really cared about the club.Having pride and to care is a problem we have had over the years.Having a senior pro's that gives everything every time they play is the best example we can have for young players we are bring through. It is up to Taylor if Kedwell returns to the side sooner or later. But if the question really is does Kedwell earn his wages my answer would be yes every time. Whoever starts it is likely in the next few weeks we will need fresh legs during games so Bayo,Pigott and Kedwell are likely to get on the pitch as long as they are fit.

Kedwell will not be our main source of goals this season or next season, he will want to play every week at his age, but sadly he does not look up to the required standard to perform, meaning goals, so probably league 2 is the best he can hope for and there is not way keds can dislodge Cody as our main source of goals, I know keds loves the gills but, I love the gills more than him and know deep down he is not a 20 plus striker each season like Cody or even piggott.
Thanks keds , but you won't get any better as a player now and probably already peaked when you scored all those penalties, not bad for a player punching above his weight.
Good luck wherever play next season mate.
Up the gills !!!

Hmmmm.... Last season Kedwell was slated by many of being rubbish, he then started brilliantly this season and was one of our best 2-3 players and people slagged off Bayo etc, and not that Bayo is playing well, it is back to the slating of Kedwell....
The thing is, you need a mixture of strikers / forwards in order to mix things up depending on the opposition. Kedwell might not be everyone's first choice striker but he has strengths our other strikers don't have and so has a value for us.

Agree johnknee we still need a mix up front, but it will need to be on reduced wages if he re-signs next term

i totally agree,he can stay on reduced terms if he likes, but he will not be first choice and he may well have certain strengths, at the end of the day he is very limited ability wise and the negatives far outweigh the positives. if we are do relay on keds to be our man source of goals we would honestly be in the relegation zone by now and we all know he doesn't read the game that well either. we as a team have moved on without him and we are not going backwards now by looking to him for inspiration.
LIKE I SAID BEFORE KEDS HAMPERS OUR STYLE !!!!!!!

LIKE I SAID BEFORE KEDS HAMPERS OUR STYLE !!!!!!! Not first choice for you perhaps... The facts and stats don't add up with your view. Once Martin Allen exited stage left and Taylor took over, we moved out of the relegation spots with Kedwell being our main main. We were confortable mid table at the point he had his operation and has been out of the team. And if he re-signs, he won't be on reduced terms and might actually get a small pay rise to re-sign (assuming Bob Crow isn't his agent - to those who also chat on other boards )

I'd agree though Bob Crow might bump his wages above what we 'd want to pay? Some very weird posts on this thread. Cody and Keds are not in any way comparable. Cody has only ever really scored consistently for us, and in sides creating chances but not playing tight at the back. We may sometimes want to play that way and he certainly would not play a solo role up front in that style of play. The real comparison in terms of wages/resigning is Bayo. Bayo can only play limited minutes AND limits our style of play. He does not and can not close defenders down effectively. He tracks back only occasionally and will not be with us next season.

Not sure I agree Bayo won't be. If Taylor (on the assumption he has done enough to be offered the role full time) sees Cody as our main striker, it makes absolute sense to keep Bayo who he works well with.

Id be very surprised if we offered Bayo an extension. On the subject of partnerships and who plays best with who the stats tell a different story. Of Cody's 13 goals.. 4 each with Bayo and Keds on pitch and 5 with neither.

I think a lot of the players who are approaching the end of their contracts will be quite worried about the seemingly-endless supply of ex-England U21 players that Peter Taylor seems to be able to get hold of !

Beyond that, it is just a personal opinion that Cody and Bayo link together better than Cody and Kedwell. From the previous spell, Cody and Bayo clearly had chemistry. I don't quite see the same level between Kedwell and Cody as yet. Since Bayo stays more central, it is easier for Cody to play off him, whereas Kedwell is more mobile and isn't always so close to Cody to immediately bring him into play etc.

I'd be surprised if Kedwell has had significantly more pitch time alongside Cody, than Bayo has. Whatever, the obvious conclusion from the stats is that Cody scores alongside either and neither, providing we play enough offensive football. He needs a big centre forward far less than he does the final ball from a Dack, or Fagan.

Personal opinion or not, it's widely accepted among most gills fans that keds cannot play with Cody, so bench warmer at best for the gills next season but I will be disappointed if keds is still here because he won't be missed by the team.
End of season clearout Charlie lee, Adam Barrett , Leon legge, joe Martin, Adam birchall and Steven Gregory .
Need to tie Nelson and Cody down , 2 best players at club and maybe whelpdale if he wants to stay and need get a decent midfield playmaker because Gregory is not a leader and weak minded, so we need a someone also can lead from midfield and score a few goals told.
