Martin Allen was a great motivator. I watched him in action a couple of times at Beechings Cross training ground with the Gills. Friendly guy,but could be a bit abrasive at times. He did tell a couple of old ladies who were sitting on his seat during a training session to "bugger off" Perhaps we will see Barnet back in League 2 in a couple of seasons.

Can I strongly recommend the signings of Barrett, Legge and Weston to Mr Allen

They would probably be OK in the conference or maybe L2. I think we should release them at the end of the season, and perhaps be setting our sights a bit higher in terms of quality.

Legge? Really??? Things would be much worse if he hadn't been there this season

No chance ollybeak, think at least two of them have another year left on their contracts and they ain't gonna walk away from that. Not sure about that technical, agree of late has been better, but he had had a number of shockers and if would have decent cover he wouldn't have featured at a number of games.

Problem with Legge and Barrett is that they are both similar players in terms of being good marking the Kedwell type players, but less so against the quick, nimble Cody types. When we come up against those sorts of players, whichever one of them struggles depends on who the nippy strike plays against. In terms of picking between the two, Barrett is not getting any younger and is the player we should look to retire off.

I have had a few computer problems of late so I have been off line a fair bit.I found Martin Allen a bit strange when I met him, however I do wish him well he did well for us and returns to management with my best wishes.I do wonder if he will try to get anyone from us,if he stays next seasons side could include a few ex gills I feel.We of course do not really know who if any of the players he upset before he left.Athough it is clear he fell out with a few. As for Barrett and Legge I agree that they are too similar.Maybe a young Innes or someone of that kind coming in perhaps on a season long loan as a 4th centre back option could be the answer. Although I do believe in Callum Davies he has a lot to offer but I feel he needs a manager to really believe in him. I wonder if a long term loan maybe to a league two side could be the answer as I feel given time and games he could do very well for us.He is still young for a centre back and needs games. Of course it is likely that Davies,Barrett and Legge will stay as they are in contract.I am not sure if Legge's contract runs till the end of next season as he was signed in January 2013 on a two year deal. This and other articles do not say 2 and a half years. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21275588I don't know if this is correct or not.Anyone else know the facts?

I guess Allen cant of been that bad if a club has taken him back (FOUR TIMES)the Barnet Chairman had always kept in touch with him and was the first to congratulate him when we went up as Champions.so the two obviously got on well together. All the very Best Mr Allen,im sure your be appreciated there.

Barnet only have him for half a season each time so he is around long enough for his antics to get a positive reaction, but not long enough for it to get annoying and disruptive...

He was with us long enough to become Champions. I was responding to the question as to why he has gone back to Barnet multiple times. And I'd argue we did well for half a season, before we stuttered over the line.

Completely agree with you Johnknee. A lot has been made of the fact we went up as champions but I think even the most ardent fan was holding their breath for most of the season after Christmas. Also probably a mixture of Scally and Allen but we simply didn't build a team to compete in the 1st division. Let us hope that we can rectify the recruitment mistakes during the coming close season, clear out any dead wood that we can and bring in 1st division players. Know that money plays a big part but lets hope for better things.
