Well I don't know about anyone else but I feel a lot happier now we have this win under our belt.

Safe now. Not a vintage performance, especially first half but did enough

A good performance against a below average tranmere side. I felt legge had a superb game, and this just goes to show how with and without him in the team there is a lot of difference. Hewitt and Martin are no better than the top half of league two, and managed to pull through without playing too bad. I felt Barrett had a good game, he was steady and we deserved the clean sheet. Weston did well towards the end of the game but didn't look that good in the first hour. Gregory and hessenthaler I thought were poor today to their standards and against a better opposition our midfield could have been ran over. Charlie Lee showed some signs of promise, but his positional sense is disappointing. Seeing the midfield line only consisted of three players; with Lee never where he should have been, resulting in a full back in a good position to receive the ball. I like bayo and thought he had a good game, but I don't think he's quite good enough and unless Peter Taylor can get a better forward in the summer, I wouldn't offer him a new contract. McDonald I thought was dreadful- the amount of chances he wasted that possibly dack or fagan could have made better chance in his positions. He had enough clear-cut chances to score at least 3 goals today, however give him his credit for getting into these positions and creating chances out of seemingly nothing, and scoring a good goal who everyone in the crowd felt he should have taken the shot on earlier than he did. I didn't feel kedwell or dack made much of an impact when they came on, apart from Bradley's goal of course... Nelson also had a steady game but wasn't tested a lot This should now see us safe.. we hope!!

Not sure I agree up the Gills I felt keds and dack made a positive impact today. Cody got into the right areas and while he could be said to be wastefull he gets into the right areas.Gregory and Hess I feel play well together. I Can't be the only one who felt Gregory's recall helped us today.Lee's and Weston on the flanks had their up and downs. The defence was not really tested like last week but a lot of credit for the whole side repeatedly winning back the ball.I did agree however that Leon Legge really deserved man of the match.

Although not everyone appreciates Gregory and what he does subtly bring, it is worth noting that the two matches he was dropped for (Stevenage and Orient) we played probably the worse we have this season.

I never said I don't appreciate Gregory at all, I just don't think he had a very good game and I didn't feel that what he does 'subtly bring' he didn't do so much of it today, and even if he did, he didn't do it effectively. I personally like Gregory, I like his positional sense and I believe that he keeps the teams shape, hence your fact in saying the matches he hasn't started we have been very poor. And to statotheblue's comment, I mentioned he does get into these positions but doesn't have that strikers finish that he should have if he is playing in a division this high, as his goals to chances ratio is shocking

Cody is and maybe always will waste chances but I would prefer a forward that gets there and normally falses the keeper to save.Than a player who rarely gets there.Cody makes things happen if he fets any sort of service. He is the best we have infront of goal.If I bad to bank on one player scoring it would be Cody 15 goals this season to his credit so far.

If you had to bank on one player scoring it will be McDonald, although he has to have 4 clear-cut chances before scoring?

If you had to bank on one player scoring it will be McDonald, although he has to have 4 clear-cut chances before scoring? And that's probably why he is playing in League one for Gillingham and not the Prem with Manchester City And you are missing the point, he creates the chances himself often with runs he makes ect.... and he is still the clubs top scorer. Also you may want to define 'clear cut' if clear cut is 15 yards out with back to goal and 2 defenders in proximity then wow, im surprised he only needs 4 attempts before getting one in

I didn't aim the comment at anyone in particular (not intentionally anyhow)... But I will disagree with you over his performance in so far he did play quite a few good forward passes but the player he found didn't then get the cross in etc for the chance. I've always found Cody to be a much better finisher if he is under pressure and doesn't have the time to think about what he is doing. What is he particular good at though is getting his body between the ball and defender when the defender lets the high ball bounce.

I agree that Cody needs to start every game, because his presence shows that we are capable of scoring and winning games. However, I do feel that he could do better with some chances he does have, as I seem to recall from yesterday's game th players got the ball through to him and he had one touch to finish. He didn't try to do anything with the finish, he stuck it right at the goal keeper and as he got down to dive it deflected off of him and went out for a corner. Then I look at fagans goal at Leyton Orient, and dacks goal yesterday. They had 1 or maybe 2 chances in the whole of the game, and their goals were from similar positions than McDonald's chance that I mentioned. I wondered maybe if fagan or dack was in cody's position yesterday, could they have found a corner and got the ball inside of it? Just like they did for their goals?

Great result and deserved for a change. Thought legge was v good today and deserved mom, but not the greatest attacking line up against us. Agree with you johnknee that Cody is a much better player under pressure and more likely to score with little time to think. With regards to Gregory, today I thought he had a v good game also and so did the dozen or so people around me. He done a lot of dirty work covering and breaking up play and did it very well. Looking forward to Shrewsbury and bring able to breathe whilst watching.

How anybody can criticise Cody is beyond me. Martin Allen didn't pick him as first choice at the beginning of the season and did his best to destroy the lads confidence. Peter Taylor to his credit played Cody in his best position playing just off the centre forward. Taylor gave the lad back his mojo. Let's assume Cody could have got another five goals at the beginning of the season, then twenty goals in a struggling season is outstanding. Yes, Cody misses a load of chances, but so do most great goals scorers. I remember Jimmy Greaves once saying if he could score one in five chances he would end up with thirty goals in a season.. Sounds about right
On another note, I thought Kedwell came on as sub and played extremely well. It makes you think how long he was carrying the injury (hernia) as he looked a different player yesterday. I know he should have looked fresh after such a long time out, but some of his touches were sublime. He never lacks effort, but If he can show this type of skill and let the younger players make the runs he must be worth another contract extension. He looked easily good enough for Div 1 on that showing. However, playing deeper with Cody making the runs worked a treat.
