The hold-up now is negotiating compensation, figures are out there 100K. Bearing in mind that despite windfalls from other players fees, we have been told the money has gone to cover debts etc. What makes anyone think or know that PS is willing to use some of it to buy a manager. Pick me up if I am wrong but have we actually bought a player with a lot of cash since our relegation from the Championship, so is there a lot of sense in forking out tens of thousands for a manager ( who unless he gets us way up the league next season will be out on his ear)

Sorry but how do you think this works, PS has decided he wants JE who is another teams manager and contracted to them, do you think we should just be allowed him for nothing, I don't see anything wrong with the fact Newport expect a fee for him, he has got them promoted twice and 2 trips to wembley, to them he is worth 100k, if PS decides he is not then go after someone else, it really shouldn't be that difficult.

Just not true we haven't paid fees for players. Stimson spent a lot of money on fees and Hess signed Keds and Birchall to name 2 for a combined £175k. Sure others can chime in with other names

Thats what i was trying to say Newport have a manager under contract, so they are going to want the max they can get. If he wants to come, but the two clubs can't agree on the fee then it will only be JE and Newport that loses out, PS can walk away and start again. I just wanted to make the point that we as fans are constantly being reminded there is no money to buy players even when the windfalls come in, so does it make sense that we pay out for a manager.

If the player or in this case the manager is deemed good enough and the valuation is not ridiculous then i am sure PS will find the fee, and as hessisgod said above we have paid good money for players in the recent years. This year we had to pay something for Luke Norris.

Given we have the youngest team we have ever had at this level and it at least seems it will largely stay that way at least for a year or two do does make some sense to get the best manager we can afford.Youth needs guidance coaching regardless of job, training is important at any age in any job but generally a older person can get away with a little less help as long as they still have the drive a manager will have less impact. But with our squad when Cody is now the oldest outfield player they need the right man if that person happens to be working for someone so we need to pay that hopefully in the long term will be money well spent.A new player largely can only be a good as a manager lets him be.Buying managers makes more sense to me than players unless you are talking about young ones.As a older player can walk away for free anyway.I know a manager can but a good manager now can not only bring in better players he can also profit from those that are sold on.I would like to see the new manager having a transfer budget but I would like to see it spent on one or two really good teenagers that is the way forward in my view.

Taken from the comment section in the South Wales Argus story about them playing hardball with Scally, seems he may have room for manoeuvre.
RELEASE CLAUSES
Another form of agreed termination payment is that stipulated in a “release clause”. In circumstances where one Club is seeking to recruit another’s contracted Manager, it is not always easy to calculate and/or agree the compensation payable to secure that Manager’s release from his existing Contract. Accordingly, more and more top level Clubs are inserting release clauses in their Managers’ Contracts, which stipulate that for a Manager to be released from his Contract a specific fee needs to be paid. Clauses of this type were once largely the preserve of foreign Clubs and players, but as more and more foreign Managers have made their way into the English game, they have increasingly become part of the landscape here. By way of example, in June 2011, Chelsea reportedly paid Porto of Portugal £13.2m to trigger the release clause in the Contract of their then Manager, Villas-Boas, in order to bring him to London14. In theory, under English law, a release clause might be held to be unenforceable if it is deemed to have the effect of a “penalty clause” (that is, if the release fee specified does not amount to a genuine pre-estimate of the loss that the enforcing Club will suffer if its Manager leaves). However, one way in which to effectively reduce the risk of this issue arising is to tie the release clause to the remaining period of the Contract, so that the release fee reduces as the Manager’s Contract approaches the expiry of its fixed term.

If we have the money for Bertrand we can afford Edingburgh. Scally has a reputation of wanting something for nothing that is the problem! It's two experienced players we need one or possibly two midfielders who are able to control midfield and also a experienced centre back! Also I would like our new manager to take the Captaincy off Loft and give it to Cody or even if he has knowledge of a good team leader available bring him in!

Cody won't make a good captain, trouble is out of our whole squad I can't see a stand out leader. Egan possibly, but not yet.

Totally agree.Unfortunately Loft has found the going tough at Gills the Vale armband was clearly easier to wear. But we will soon have a new manager lets hope that it will get him back on track.I don't think it is ability with Loft he has just found running a very young squad on the pitch difficult.I think he spends too long worrying about others that he is not on his own game.Bradley Dack's impact in the last few months may help. But the new manager may have something up his sleeve even another older player on loan with the right background could make a massive difference. Please do not give up on Loft the new manager maybe just the tonic he needs.Give him another chance to prove that his signing was a good one.
