Interesting, swanley So on the plus, he promotes youth and has found some gems. On the negative, the fans think he's long ball. That will be a big shame if that's the case as we were playing more on the deck since MA left.

Yeah i agree, the long ball and the giving undeserving players long contracts worries me, as does his contacts, he took quite a few from rushden with him to newport, thats one thing i guess when they were conference and now league two, even their own fans think they are punching above their weight, can he attract the same type players and loan players that PT could :/ hmmmmm interesting.

Would be concerned about his contact base and I have always been of the opinion that our next Manager should be experienced at league 1 level. I would prefer not to see too many players being bought in from league 2 level. Interesting comments from Newport fans very mixed opinions which is not surprising. They are probably a bit fed up with the rumours of recent weeks and want to see something sorted sooner rather than later. However, all Manager and players come to that, have to start somewhere it's not usual to come into this business and go straight into the higher leagues. If this deal is done let's hope that this is the right appointment for The Gills as I really don't want to see another situation like this next year.

Agreed, he would have my full support, deserves a chance, Sounds like we need Jimmy Dack as well.

Just read on Twitter from Radio Kent that Newport have offered a "take it or leave it" compromise on the compensation deal. If Scally wants JE, I'd hope things can move quickly now. I think his record at lower levels is exceptional and he deserves a chance at a higher level. Be great if he was at least watching the game on Saturday to give us an extra boost for a big game.

Just a thought here but is PS running the risk or putting JE off, he went after Ardley and got rejected, reports suggest he then went after another different league two manager and was rejected and now he is going after JE but obviously does not want to pay the 100k, JE must feel so loved already by PS.

I think we should have been given the list of the 70 applicants then we could have voted on who we wanted ? Lol

This practice does nothing to enhance the Club's reputation IMHO

I fell like saying that's unbelievable but I guess it's not. I wonder how many other really good candidates slipped through the net

Cheers Swanley some interesting comments, but pretty much agree with all the above comments. One concern at our level is the contacts for players, which we have heavily relied upon over a number of seasons. From the latest posts looks like its him, as cant imagine them holding a press conference to confirm staying.

Edinburgh may well turn out.to be a good manager for us but I can't help thinking kuqi had the contacts whereas Edinburgh does not possess a wide network like kuqi has at his disposal.
