Well said dc83 some of the young lads are showing great promise but they still need more time to get the necessary experience and confidence and the only way to do this is to play against teams like Bristol City. It was a brave move to bring these youngsters together and we were all aware right from the beginning of the season that it would take time to make this work. I hope that they will be given the time they need to do this and that the Manager is not forced to abandon these lads by the pressures out there from some who think that throwing abuse at the management is the way forward.

I can't see what the problem is about swansgill. He is obviously an avid and caring Gills fan and spends an awful lot of money to see the team he loves. I realise Santa didn't deliver him rose coloured spectacles like an unbelievable amount of supporters but Santa can't read very well as he didn't buy me the Porsche I wanted! Yesterday was an exception as I was entertained (by Bristol City mainly) but when was the last time people were actually entertained? The money we pay(I take three children) do we get value for money? The sad thing for me yesterday was the length of time it took Taylor to realise that a back 5/wing backs wasn't working. Having to play the very, very average Hess Jnr is a concern. Martin is never going to be a wing back and the only player Gills have in their squad who may be a wing back in Hoyte sat there watching! The second half was better as we pressed them higher up the pitch but Bristol were a team that is far too good. A worry for me is the future. I, like all supporters would love too see Gillingham stay up and push on next season but even if they stay up, will they push on? If anyone answers yes then your Santa must be able to read! Back to negative/honest posters....Is that not what free speech and a message board are for? Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year to all...

Technically Kedwell and Martin were other managers signings but Taylor gave them new contracts. Nelson Cody and Legge were also other managers signings but there's not much wrong with them. MA signed Linganzi but at the time he was signed most fans were quite happy with him and it's a pity he seems so injury prone. I don't really blame the players because I think the majority including the loans have the making of good players , so I can only assume it's the way they are told to play.Even if they all played to their potential I doubt we would have got a result against Bristol City who are probably too good for this division so I think it's best to chalk this down as an unwinnable game and worry about the games we've got to play against lesser teams

Just to correct you, Martin was resigned by Allen, not Taylor. Taylor gave new deals to Nelson and Kedwell (both wrongly imo)

I understand everyone has their own opinion but it costs me a lot of money to go home and away with my little boy and I always feel short changed! I dnt just blame the manager, although his decisions are laughable, but it always seems the players lack spirit and probably ability! I understand the players are young and need time but the team clearly isn't good enough!

When I watched some of those lads playing yesterday they certainly did not lack spirit I think the ability is there but needs experience.

The so called more experienced players have let us down this season so far and hopefully we will lose one or two of them.

Why are so many of you still backing Taylor it amazes me?
I didn't watch much of Stimsons teams but other than not having a bad arrogant attitude Taylor seems as tactically inept! Never in my 40 odd years watching the Gills have I settled for Gills being relegation fodder so why should I be happy now? What disappoints me is that the amount of fans who compare with us with the likes of Colchester and Yeovil and are content with that. We are no football giant but we should be punching above our present position and having some kind of hope!

Who should we be compared with then, our fan base and gates suggest we are div 1 at best and bottom half, exactly where we are!? Perhaps the doubters are right and perhaps it's ps and pt being/trying to be progressive in trying something different to get us up a level with youth. Instead they should have kept with the same old formula of finishing mid table at best with the odd promotion and more usual the relegations, but at least under the old way we got to see a bunch of old has beens who basically turn up for an over inflated wage. Seen that formula and the moans that go with it for the last 20 years on and off. Sorry, but I'm of the opinion that trying something different is better as after 20 years of the old way with me constantly moaning change was required, it's happened and I'll stick with it for a while in a hope it will bring success and something better in the longer term. If not, we are no worse off, but would have tried which is better IMO.

I agree (again) muppet. I'd much rather watch this attempt to play entertaining football and build something for the future than the unattractive (if occasionally more successful) football we've seen in the recent past.
AND we are NOT going to be relegated.

Here here muppet I have been a season ticket holder for around 16 years and purchased tickets for games prior to that. I have seen the highs and the lows of the club been to Wembley twice cheered at one and cried at the other. I have seen quite a few Managers come and go and have heard dissatisfied fans make comments similar to those on this site about every single Manager we have had. We have gone up and down like a roller coaster and as Muppet says lets go with something different. Even now at this stage we are in a better position than some of the situations we have been in over the last few years. I still feel that if we can stay up this season some of these talented lads will prove to be much more experienced players in the future. Changes do need to be made and I think this will happen.

January transfer or loan signing will define peter Taylors future. Keep persisting with young untried talent will surely mean a very difficult second part of season. Now is the time.to bring in some ready made players who can come in and make a instant impact. Taylor does not have the luxury of gradually integrating these new January signings. It's vitally important that we get some points on the board very quickly because the last few months of the season there are no easy games because most teams are playing to reach playoffs or safety, the character within the team and application is poor so there needs to be some fundemental changes very soon.
