You do look a bit pale paulmax hope you are not going down with something. Many of you would have got your New Years wish I still felt that Peter Taylor would have kept us in league 1 and deserved to continue with the young team. I just wonder whether PT had had enough of the abuse from fans and was instamental in getting himself the sack. I don't think any job is worth that, My main concerns now are will someone new try and completely re structure although I doubt they would be given the funds to do this or, just bring in a few key players to mix with the best of what we have.

Just seen the comments about Kedwell cannot believe that he would be able to influence a decision of this nature particularly with a Chainman like PS

Not what i wanted - would have liked see him finish what he started but guess it was on the cards Leaving Hess in charge is a flippin disaster though. Hope there's a quick replacement lined up My sentiments exactly technical, feel that nothing will alter by changing horses in mid stream, was all for giving PT the time to prove himself, even though his strategy is at times difficult to follow.Looks like Hess, twice failed already, to take the reins to me that spells only disaster.

PS needs to work quickly to find a replacement. That replacement presumably will have to accept Hess as part of his team? Not all Managers would want that.

Just as a side issue, I wonder if Kedwells supposedly falling out with him ,has got anything to do with it, as supposedly it did with MA I thought the same earlier, ollybeak. Wonder if some of the conversation involved moving on some of the underperforming seniors? It would be a shame to think that Kedwell is bigger than the club, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. I have to admit i came to the same conclusion reference Kedwell.ref Allen and Taylor..lets hope its not a case of Kedwell being bigger than the club..

Why would Kedwell be bigger than the club? It does seem like falling out with him is a bad thing for a manager but what does he have that makes him that important? As a choice between Taylor and Kedwell, I would have preferred to see Kedwell go. Still think his time's up TBH.
Gillsjan, what make you say the new manager will have to accept Hess? Why is it accepted that he's a permanent fixture? As you say, I don't think many prospective candidate would welcome that.

I dont know technical I just feel that he is part of the furniture at Priestfield and I just wonder if PS will want to retain him on the payroll. A really strong Manager will dictate his conditions prior to joining but he will have to overcome PS and the Board Members which I would think would be no easy job. Kedwell needs to move on now he has had his day and however much the fans " love" to have him around a local boy made good, I think he should be history now. He is one player I would like to see replaced in January.

Poor decision and looks like ps has lost his bottle and decided we need to go back to the old ways using old gits to try and appease the supporters. I hope not and will be interesting to hear some comments from both to put the record straight. If he has then my estimation of him is down the toilet. Putting AS in temp charge is a big mistake and whilst I have nothing but admiration for him as a players and gills man he is not up to the task even if it does bring short term reward as I am looking for a longer term plan as I believed pt and ps were, obviously not! Whoever said Ian wright as a replacement, he has real pedigree in management Not, so where again is the progression, but hey another old git back that will see us to mid table obscurity with the odd promotion and far more bad years/relegations. Please don't mention kedwell bigger than the club, again admire him for his effort, but really not good enough and as said many a time when I want a pound of carrots I go to a green grocers not a butchers. On a personal note, I m sorry to see PT go as I believed in trying something new may change our longer term plans as a club, but as usual short sighted ambition wins the day. From me good luck to you PT and hope you can get back into the game with a progressive chairman or even back to managing youth at England level, where I still believe he has the best record of any England manager ever.

A little shocked to be honest.Bristol City are a good side and I don't think we were that bad at the weekend.Taylor was never my choice but I do believe in sticking with managers.Taylor has made mistakes it would be wrong to say otherwise. But it is still a surprise to me.We have taken a youth route that should not change. We simply have to stick with it.I would guess that Scally has someone in mind for the job.At this stage it would be wrong to hazard a guess as to who.Clearly Scally did not rate Taylor's January moves. So everything is up in the air.Players, coaches etc.I do wish Taylor well as a real think he has left us better off than he joined.Question is what now over to you MR SCALLY.

What really worries me now is with PT we did get some decent loan signings from bigger clubs (prem & champ) where as historically we have gone to div1/2 and conference. I guess we will be back there and if players like doughty don't resign and we revert to lower league then I guess we now what their parent clubs think of us as a club!

Totally agree with you muppet someone said earlier that most on this site wanted to see PT gone. I think there were quite a few of us who would have liked to see him finish what he had started, I agree we will now be back to the same old same old. I still wonder whether PT actually threw his hand in due to the amout of abuse from the fans. He apparently made the phone call to PT which resulted in the sacking. You and I know how these things work and agreements are reached that suit both parties financially and the best for the club!! At the moment feel a bit disheartened by the whole thing. Still it's New Years Eve so maybe a bottle of Champers will help.

PT. Had a lot of contacts in the business and we benefitted from these. Wonder how these young players are feeling tonight.

Yes, I agree with the Muppet and gillsjan. With PT in charge there were a lot of reasons for good loan signings to see Gills as a good place to be. Will be very interesting to see how long some of them stay now, and indeed if they are wanted under whatever the new regime is.

Agree gillsjan, bet the younger lads are now worried for their futures and they shouldn't be as far as I am concerned.
