Dazza it was a mess when he was here and showing him the door was the only way we could move forward, because he was the heart of the problem. There was no progress under Taylor and we have a terribly weak characters in our team and results would not have improved under him.

You are a complete and utter idiot, fact. look where we are now, 4 losses on the bounce, no manager, 1/3 rd of a way through the transfer window, no idea of new manager or when, on a downward spiral, Id rather PT relegated us to league two rather than just wimpering their with no-one steadying the ship, you are a disgrace to gillingham fc.

Peoples eyes are truly glazed over on here! If we'd av kept taylor nothing would be any different! People say we competed against the top top teams, but what about the so called bottom teams which have played us off the park! At least he sacked taylor in time for the transfer window which is clearly needed because apart from the odd few the team is not good enough!

One of the criticisms levelled against Taylor was that he was too defensive which presumably is an acknowledgement that we wouldn't be conceding 3 goals a game.

Swanley... you just don't have a clue matey. Rather keep taylor and go down with him in charge than going down with a wimper. If Taylor stayed we were doomed. The was a lot of unrest among fans that progress was not forthcoming and the poor goals we conceded were not being addresses and how many clean sheets swanley ? Tell me. You are barking up the wrong tree if you want a argument about football. Progress under Taylor. These were taylors words. We were never going to get promoted this season or the playoffs.if we finished 15th that would be a very very good season. How would you feel if you heard than from your manager before the season starts or during the season. I bet many fans would have reconsidered renewing their season tickets if they heard these words. Answer than swanley.

It says it all that we are relying heavily on the transfer window! Wouldn't need to if we were good enuf

The reason 15th would have been ok was because it was always going to take time for a new and young team to settle in. They were showing signs of doing so after a good run just before Taylor was sacked. The aim of the manager was then that we improved our league position next season as the players would have more experience. It's a pretty basic and sensible concept 888. Even Man City and Chelski didn't get immediate success by throwing teams together with much higher budgets than we will ever have. Sadly, a vocal minority at our club, the same people who have been poisonous for a number of years now, were far too impatient to understand a long term strategy, or in some cases didn't give the manager a chance from day 1. I'd rather they went to watch Canvey Island than Taylor went to manage them.

I don't give a monkeys what people are sick and tired of hearing Taylor was not a good manager full stops!! Does this imply terry that you are now happy with what you have, a declining Gills aimlessly floundering. As mistert said the question is not about Taylors ability as a manager but the timing of his departure, the fact that no replacement was available, and the total utter mess it has left us in. If you condone that then there are some suggestions that could be made that are not suitable for this forum.

This is the argument many gills fans didn't believe we were improving enough under Taylor to warrant him staying. The football and tactics were awful and the amount of sloppy goals we conceded were avoidable , his management of players was a joke putting cody on the bench, the way he treat legge by dropping him and then playing him when we had no players. Legge then goes and scores a few vital headers to save taylors bacon. At that time taylor was already losing the plot.
Bye bye taylor.
