The Gills unbeaten run – now seven in all competitions – has to end sometime but let’s hope it’s not today at Huish Park. Gills are facing Yeovil Town, currently rock bottom of League One, for the third time this season having won the previous two games. Acting manager for the Glovers, Terry Skiverton, has signed four players on loan ready for this match in an effort to stop the slide into League Two. Last season they were in the Championship!
Gills starting line-up does not contain any surprises: Stuart Nelson,
Gavin Hoyte, John Egan, Max Ehmer, Bradley Garmston, Jake Hessenthaler, Doug Loft, Bradley Dack, Danny Galbraith, Cody McDonald and
John Marquis.
Gills substitutes are: Brennan Dickenson, Luke Norris, Jermaine McGlashan, Josh Pritchard, Leon Legge, Joe Martin and Glenn Morris.
Good Gills crowd of fans in and even start from both sides.
5 minutes: Yeovil made a quick break but Stuart Nelson was quick out of his goal and cleared up the loose ball. Gills quick to snap at defenders who are dwelling on the ball forcing a few mistakes. Good start from Gills.
7 minutes: Cody putting himself about causing minor mayhem in the area but Yeovil beginning to get their act together.
9 minutes: John Marquis brought down as he runs in and Yeovil player (Smith I think) gets a yellow card from referee Simon Hooper. Dack takes it and John Egan just misses the header at far post.
11 minutes: Yeovil not presenting much of a threat (yet!) as a home side looking for points. Corner for Yeovil easily picked out by Stuart Nelson as it came over.

YEOVIL 0 v GILLS 0
13 minutes: No real shots on target from either team. Too much long ball from both sets of players that do nothing for skill or producing much excitement in the penalty areas. Nice day, pretty reasonable piaying surface but boring football!
15 minutes: Dack on the run and wins a throw but unable to get a telling pass forward to either Cody or Marquis.
17 minutes: Yeovil free kick wasted and easily broken up by Gills defence as the ball comes into the danger area.
20 minutes: Another free-kick for Yeovil given away by Dack. YEOVIL SCORE: Ball came in and UGWU shoots home

YEOVIL 1 (Ugwu) v GILLS 0
Yeovil re-signed Bryon Webster who headed the free across the goal and Ugwu shoots home - Gills players left him unmarked and possibly thought he was offside. Dack booked for a petulant foul ans he must feel gutted tyhat it was him who gave the free-kick away.
22 minutes: Ugwu puts James Hayter through and he twice had a chance to put Yeovil two up but a great save from Stuart Nelson forcing a corner. Gills under pressure and looking a bit rocky with Yeovil on top.
28 minutes: Corner for Gills but Yeovil get it away andGills not looking likely to score in a month of Sundays.
30 minutes: Foley causing problems and Yeovil beginning to dictate play. They are not an attractive side and Gills need to settle to get something out of this game. Disappointing performance from Gills so far - created absolutely nothing with Cody McDonald and John Marquis spectators.
31 minutes: Having said that a great move between the two Gills strikers very nearly provides a chance for Cody but ball picked off by Webster who is having a great game back in a Glover's shirt.

YEOVIL 1 (Ugwu) v GILLS 0
33 minutes: Free-kick for Gills but it comes to nothing. Loft robbed of the ball and Yeovil come again with Ugwu. Foley shoots and blocked by Max Ehmer for a corner. Yeovil on top and worrying times for Gills. Corner comes in and a free header by James Foley at far post - luckily it was cleared by Hoyte for a throw.
35 minutes: Disappointing that Gills are being tied up in knots by an average League One side. No real shot on target and about 10 minutes to the break. Free-kick to Gills for foul on Dack comes to nothing via a Hessenthaler header.
37 minutes: James Hayter tries a right footed shot from the centre of the area but thankfully it misses to the left.
38 minutes: Cody just misses with a header - that's more like it Gills as it flashes just a yard wide.
39 minutes: That man Ugwu breaks down the left after picking off a poor Doug Loft pass and Ugwu really should have made it two as he pulls the ball well wide when he really should have down better. Credit to Nelson who cut down the angle.
43 minutes: Yeovil free-kick but cleared by Gills to John Marquis who clahes with a Yeovil defender and both come tumbling downand referee Hooper wags his finger at the Gills striker awarding a free-kick tothe Glovers.
45 minutes + 2 added { Ugwu nearly gets another on the break - ball bouncing free in the area and Gills hack clear
HALF TIME: Yeovil 1 v Gills 0 - Not the best half of football I've seen from the Gills and new boss Edinburgh has a job to do to lift this shambles of a display notwithstanding Yeovil are bottom as Gills would not have made an impact against a Sunday League side on this display. John Marquis gets booked for another tackle and discipline looks like it's disappearing.

YEOVIL 1 (Ugwu) v GILLS 0
Second half gets underway so lets see what Gills can do after an expected Edinburgh blast to his team over the half time cuppa. The manager has made a move as Jermaine McGlashan (The Flash) comes on in place of Danny Galbraith.
Hoyte wins a throw on the far side and Loft gets on the move but attack breaks down and Yeovil's Hayter goes for goal but Gills break down that move. Lively start to the second period but Gills can't be any worse then they were in the first 45 minutes.
49 minutes: Gills free-kick after foul on Dack taken by McDonald and it can only be parried out b goalie but Marquis was on hand to tuck the ball home - GILLS SCORE as John Marquis shoots home from close range.

YEOVIL 1 (Ugwu) v GILLS 1 (Marquis)
52 minutes: That's John Marquis scoring his sixth goal since joiningh from Millwall and he was fastest to react and possibly gambled that it would drop at his feet when the goalie could only parry a hard driven shot on goal by his striking partner Cody McDonald. Brilliant second half start by Gills as good as it was bad in the first! - They could/should now go on to test Yeovil for the remainder of this match. Gills now looking very good and moving the ball around well. More fight and skill on the ball.
55 minutes: Free-kick to Yeovil given away by Garmston - headed away by Egan and Nelson moves to his left to collect. 458 Gills fans who watch Dack putting Cody through who falls in the area claimimh a penalty. Refused by referee Hooper and the Yeovil crowd let Cody know he was a 'cheat'.
60 minutes: One hour gone and Gills now looking comfortable but Yeovil break with Ugwu - who is proving a real handful - but Hoyte tracks back to break up the attack.
62 minutes: James Hayter comes off and Joel Grant comes on - manager Skiverton looking for a big striker alongside Ugwu. His first tou ch was toward goal but stopped by Doug Loft with a superb tackle.
65 minutes: Yeovil trying to settle now but restricted to long shot but Stuart Nelson watches as it goes wide of his post. Gills have let Yeovil come back into this game and substitute Grant causing a few problems. Another long shot but this time on target and Nelson had to save.
68 minutes: Worrying times for Gills fans as Yeovil come again and looking the most likely to grab a winner. They have to tighten in the middle of the park and watch their loose passing. Dack and Hessenthaler are the biggest culprits at the moment. Edinburgh shouting on the touchline and captain Loft comes across for a chat.
71 minutes: McGlash the Flash brought down in full flight and free kick taken by Hessenthaler but wasted by floating into the penalty with no pace. Don't know what he was thinking and only he knows! Complete waste.
75 minutes: Could be a winner in this game but at the moment it is not looking like it is going to be a Gills second - mind you Yeovil are not a lot better now that Ugwu has apparently run out of steam.

YEOVIL 1 (Ugwu) v GILLS 1 (Marquis)
78 minutes: Foley long shot from 25 yards out and Nelson had to dive to save forcing a corner. Foley takes the kick but cleared upfield by Gills trying to send 'Flash' away. McDonald just fails to reach a cross and another chance goes begging. Yeovil sub as Morgan comes on Berrett off.
79 minutes: Another great effort from range and Nelson saves Gills again and seconds later Ugwu through yet again but flagged for offside - that must have been close. Bryon WEbster hits a shot that was blocked. Yeovil getting on top as Gills start to get wobbly.
80 minutes: Yeovil corner that comes to nothing. This is nail biting time for Gills fans as they look far from convincing in these last 10 minutes or so. Bryan Webster booked for a crude foul on Hessenthaler. The free-kick taken by Loft and a corner results. LOft takes it and puts it straight into the goalie's hands - another wasted corner.
84 minutes: Luke Norris comes on for a jaded and disappointing Cody Mac this afternoon.
85 minutes: Yeovil's Adam Morgan's shoots from around 30 yards but the effort is high and wide over Stuart Nelson's goal. Luke Norris gets into the action running into the area but is blocked off getting to the ball.
GILLS SCORE : LUKE NORRIS beats three men on the run and powers it into the bottom corner. Three goals in midweek and now one today - yippee!!!

YEOVIL 1 (Ugwu) v GILLS 2 (John Marquis, Luke Norris)
What an inspired substitution from Gills boss Edinburgh and although Gills have not played well they probably deserved this goal to put them in the lead - However, it was not to be four wins on the trot for the first time since 2012.
90 minutes + 4 added: When you are down luck never seems on your side but Yeovil get a penalty with two minutes remaining. Hoyte brings down Gtant and a definate spot kick.
YEOVIL SCORE - Morgan scores past Nelson sending him the wrong way. Tough on Norris as it was a good goal to win any game. A draw is still good reward but Gills must have felt they had all three points.
YEOVIL 2 (Ugwu, Morgan pen) v GILLS 2 Marquis, Norris)

Decent point anyway but the 3 were so close. Marquis builds his tally - may have been a tap-in but it counts. This is the real nitty gritty of League 1 football and JE should be pleased overall to go away to the bottom club and get something. This was the type of 'banana skin' game we would have lost in the past. Teams at the bottom gained useful points today but we are seemingly out of real danger now. As a fan of Chelsea also I have to be happy with this point as Referee Atkinson donated the point he won today to Burnley. 2 stone cold penalties not given and no card at all to Ashley Barnes for more than one dodgy tackle today. Not a Chelsea board so back to the Gills. Good point and thanks to IBlue for the match report.

Personally I think they gave away 2 points. We have seen this so many times before where we beat the top teams and lose to the bottom.

Gutted penalty cost me three bets, Gills to win, Marquis to score and Gills to win and both teams to score and Gills to win! The main thing though we remain on our unbeaten run!

No not a Chelski board especially as I am a anti Chelski fan! But back to the main team onwards and upwards Gills and Justins half time team talk nearly worked! Please no more Chelski talk!!

We played poorly in the first half,it was if the players were enjoying the sunshine, there was no intensity to our game and to be perfectly honest we should have been at least 2 goals down.
Second half, complete transformation. We attacked on the front foot and marquis scores again. The midfield is poor still plenty of and puff and only Dack can play football, loft and Hessenthaler need to be shown the door, 2 passengers all season, hoyte is weak and hopefully moved on at the end of the season, galbraith had a mare and think that was his last chance to show he can play for us.
I truly believe legge should play with ehmer and move egan into midfield. Egan and emher at the back lack experience. Garmston is decent for sure.
Poor decision. To take off Dack, needed him to be on the pitch to hold the ball and relief the pressure and poor penalty to give away.
I hope Edinburgh has taken note of Jake and doug who have been truly awful this season.

Point of order, Mr Chairman! TJ's boot should remember this is a Gills site that has to mention other teams at times - transfers, loan signings, memories of Wembley vs Man City etc etc. I myself acknowledged this is not a place to talk about my other club but feel I do not need to take advice from TJ's boot.
