4-0 does make sense, to me, end of story. The team has changed, the midfield may be worse defensively, you don't know, I don't know. Widen your thoughts. I think we'll beat Burton but not by many. I base that on the fact that we may not be as bad as it seemed at Colchester, Steve may be getting it together and I don't feel Burton will have a good season, they also started not very well. I could be wrong of course, we may lose, our home form has been poor after good away performances and Steve may not have sorted that. But all things considered, I think we may win. That's about it really, hope I haven't broken the law.

By the way, it is also worth saying that Accrington are a good outfit led by a good manager, they proved that last season, how's that for an added thought?

Don’t waste your breath donut. Unless your absurdly optimistic according to Stato/Manc your not a proper fan. Despite not giving any explanation for their optimism before the game.

I never made a prediction and never do. The beauty of football is its unpredictability.I simply have faith in Steve Lovell and support my team.I do not believe that signing has beens is the answer. The answer is to build for the longer term.Lovell has bought into to what I have always believed a young exciting side who will look forward to pulling on the shirt and be proud to play for the Gills.

My gut instinct tells me Lovell will prove to be a very good manager for us this season and hopefully beyond. The signs of Dean Parrett, Regan Charles Cook and especially Brandon Hanlon who I think score loads this season, not since Cody have we had somebody who can finish.
Up The Gills !!!!

I didn’t make a prediction as such, although I did say that I would be happy with a draw, and if you count that as optimism then you really must have low expectations of Gillingham FC. I also posted why I would be happy with a draw, and why I thought that I draw would be a good outcome. If you’d predicted that we’d lose 1 or 2 nil I probably wouldn’t have said anything, but 4 nil is a bit extreme, especially as all we have to base our predictions on is pre-season which doesn’t really reflect how the team will play in the league, and how we performed last season.

It's not easy as a fan making a prediction because you don't want to be too pessimistic and say we will lose, also you don't want to be too optimistic and say we will win 10-0 because you know you will be wrong. That's why I won't bet on the Gills to win, not because I don't think they will win but if they don't, I will be down in the dumps enough without losing money as well.

Well I backed us to win, but my question is Hanlan who scored for us today the same bloke who missed a sitter for Bromley at Wembley in the Trophy final?

terryjolly...its the same Hanlon who played for Bromley in the FA Trophy defeat v Brackley Town, apparently he has lost a bit of bulk and loves to play off the last man, like Cody Macdonald who incidentally has left AFC Wimbledon. I can see Hanlon getting 15 goals plus this season.

Often it is about getting the right players together lumping the ball up to someone like Nash is clearly not going to work.If Hanlan can get into double figures with just tap ins then that is just what Lovell was crying out for last season .Our goals were due to good movement and close range finishes.Which hopefully will be a sign of things to come.

I predicted a win as these are the games we should be winning, Accrington showed yesterday they are a poor side who have no quality but they do put in 100% which is good enough for league 2 But they will struggle with the step up. But we still showed some good signs yesterday even though tougher games will come, delighted with the 3 points. Well done everyone involved.
