Tricky first game versus the champions of league 2 last season. They were very difficult to breakdown last season and keep plenty of clean sheets, they sold a few of their best players but they have gathered some decent momentum so expecting a difficult start.
Accrington 1 Gills 0

Accrington 1 Gills 0 Nice and positive start to the season for you I see. They can’t have any momentum, the league hasn’t started yet, and while they have been successful in pre-season friendly games are a world apart from competitive league fixtures. We had one of the best defensive records last season, it was our inability to score goals, especially at home, that really let us down last season. We lost Nugent, but he was hardly the man holding us together at the back, so hopefully we see a similar performance this season, but it is whether Lovell has addressed our scoring ability or not that will determine how we fair. Though Eaves managed to end up the 5th highest scorer in the league despite getting very poor service from our midfield, so hopefully the new signings along with a fully fit Bingham will get things moving better in the middle of the park. Up front Eaves needs a good strike partner, someone who gets into dangerous positions while he holds the ball up, I think Nash could be that man, but it depends on how he had progressed since last season. If we draw I’ll be happy enough, but being Gillingham we will no doubt make it very difficult for our selves.

I think it’s a tough one too. They will carry momentum from last season- I remember we did when we came up from league two. We’ve also got injuries to List and Eaves, who would probably have formed our first choice partnership. I’d be delighted with a point, but expect a 2-1 loss

Their budget will be lower than ours so no excuses here I fancy a 2-1 victory. These are the away games we should be looking to get 3 points from.

Accrington are favourites for relegation with most bookies so it's not gonna be nice losing on the opening day. Clean sheet will be the order of the day as far as I'm concerned.

4-0 Accrington I'm afraid.

If the bookies are right. The worst team in the league playing the 2nd worst team. I’m hoping we keep it under 5. 4-0 Stanley.

4-0 nothing like a bit of optimism before the start of the season 🙄
I assume that if the unthinkable happens and we somehow manage to win that the forum will be dead, like normal.

Giving upon Steve Lovell and the lads is not a option for me .Some on here have already wrote so very unacceptable stuff . These lads deserve a chance back them or support another team . We may or may not win tomorrow .But whatever the result the fight will go on for both teams .Regardless of bookmakers and so called fans .All real supporters of our club will at least give Lovell and the lads a chance to prove worthy of wearing Our shirt . Our team are young they need you'd backing regardless of the result tomorrow afternoon . Fortunately we still have real support .Thank you for all those who will make the trip this weekend .Be it management ,players staff or indeed fans .Enjoy the day . Personally I have a family event so I will have to wait a week to back the lads in person .

Unfortunately you are right lose or draw and the vampires will no doubt want blood .All very sad .Some just think they are clever . Real Gills fans stick with it . Up the Gills .Steve Lovell's barmy army .

Stato, are you drunk tonight, or just tired, your txt is very unlike you.
Id be happy with a 1-1 or any draw, a win would be amazing and what we should be aiming for (of course) but a defeat would be ok as a 1st game, as long as its not a 4-0, then id be worried.

I think 4-0 is an absolutely stupid prediction to make at this stage of the season.
We haven’t played any competitive matches, and we haven’t seen Lovells final selection in action.
As I said in a previous post a draw would suit me fine, as long as we don’t have what we did last season where we end up waiting over a month for a win.
We didn’t struggle defensively last season, our problem was at the other end where we struggled to score goals.
I see no reason to think that our defence has suddenly developed more holes that a sieve, we only lost Nugent from that area and he wasn’t an essential player.
I think our midfield looks stronger, but there are a few unknowns in the players we’ve signed.
Upfront we still look weak on paper, but hopefully Lovell has some tricks up his sleeve

Not drunk just angry that many fans have already thrown in the towel .Based largely it seems on bookmakers and the fact that in some cases theit need to be right goes before their support of the club . The lack of belief in Steve Lovell after all he did last season I find staggering.
